This was long before COVID caused schools and students the world over to turn to online delivery. One of the first companies to make software that allowed a school to implement distance education was Blackboard. At an educational conference for registrars and provosts in 1996, Blackboard gave out these "T-Shirts in a Cube" as a promotional item. T-Shirt in a Cube? It was a short lived but fun trend: Use an assembly line to fold a cotton Tshirt REALLY compactly, and a vacuum system to shrink wrap the shirt into a square cube which. When opened, the shirt springs open and reassumes its full size. What I Don't Know: I've had this T shirt in a bureau for 25 years. I do not remember if the shirt is short or long sleeved (though I've listed this as short sleeved), nor whether there is a large front and/or back graphic. I only know that the 4" x 4" graphic you see - of a traditional classroom blackboard with a chalk-line letter "B" - appears somewhere on the unfolded shirt - probably the front. It's marked XL but I cannot measure it without destroying the cool "in a cube" feature. Presumably there's a label, and it might even be from a well known T-shirt maker, but I cannot vouch for that. What I Do know: It fits nicely into a bureau drawer, gym bag, suitcase, or glove box, taking up very little space until you happen to need it. It celebrates one of the software giants of the late 80s & early 90s whose R&D helped bring online education to the forefront and mainstream of educational delivery in 1st world countries.
