Description: ******************** PLEASE READ *********************** ******************************** ViEW ALL PHOTOS ************************************ ********** " ON DiSPLAY, ----- THiS WiLL GET EM TALK' N " ********** ** c. 1890's Tabletop Sliding Stereoscope -- Walnut ? -- Very Good condition -- I bought this stereoscope in 2005. I'm no 'gooselady007' (a stereoview and stereoscope expert) -- but, I think this unit 'had' a graphoscope magnifying glass attachment. The grahoscope magnifying glass is a large round magnifying glass ( various sizes - usually about 5 to 7 inches round) the Graphoscope large lens can view Postcards et al magnifiable items. Postcard viewing was popular during the late 1800's -and- early 1900's. The Steroscope & Stereoviews were always more popular. The Graphoscope was a tabletop viewer. It was too large to carry around comfortably and only magnified a Postcard, photos and other objects --- The Stereoscope had a variety of small and large styles. Some Srereoscopes (viewers) were over 4 feet tall, and large enough to hold 50 Stereoview cards. On the other hand, some Stereoscopes folded small enough to fit in a pocket. Graphoscopes only enlarged objects --- only magnified objects . Nice, but dull. Stereoscopes w/ Steroviews gives a person a magical 3D, "reach out & touch sensations" ** Size: c.23" long x c.12" wide x c. 5" closed --- c. 9" opened ** Condition: Walnut? -- Wood Color is Very Good -- few small scratches on wood (see photos) Wood is Very Good for c.140 years old. Lens are 100% intact -- has no scratches, or chips, or smudges A WONDERFUL PiECE TO DiSPLAY and TO ViEW ***** EYEGLASS FRiENDLY ***** - ********************* ViEW ALL PHOTOS ******************** ******* NO RETURNS ***** FREE SHiPPiNG TO ALL 50 UNiTED STATES ***** NO INTERNATiONAL SHiPPiNG *******
