Description: A most unusual Lot of 3 Items offering; (1) an original Tacoma Totem Pole post card, (2) a bag of actual wooden saw cuttings from the pole when the city cut it down for destruction, (3) and a Certificate of Authenticity on the cuttings. You may have heard that the famous and historic Tacoma, Washington Totem Pole that was commissioned in 1903 by two Tacoma businessmen, and carved by local artists then; has been cut down and mostly destroyed. All that was claimed to be remaining is the top eagle figure. Although at the time of it's creation it was reported to have been carved by local Native American Tribe members, in 2021 the City of Tacoma determined it was not and they unceremoniously destroyed it. When it was first created, it was called the "World's Largest Totem Pole", standing at an impressive 105 feet tall. This Totem was a landmark for generations having originally stood next to the Tacoma Hotel that burned down in 1935, and later the Totem was moved to Firemen's Park. This is not to be confused with the still standing Seattle, WA Totem pole which was stolen from an Alaska Tribe. The wood shavings were obtained by myself from directly beneath the support pole that used to house the Totem. This auction includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The Totem pieces bag size is approximately 2" by 1 3/4". The COA is about 3 1/2" by 5". This is your opportunity to own an actual part of this important Tacoma Totem Pole history. Look at our auction list for More old-time antique rarities and collectibles!
