Description: TALKOPHONE "SOUSA" PHONOGRAPH A product of the Toledo, Ohio based Talkophone Phonograph Company, this is one of their most decorative examples, known as a "Sousa", with decorative carvings featuring an eagle. Indeed, some people refer to this as an "Eagle" model. Talkophones were produced from about 1903-1908. This is a later, rear-mount model produced near the end of their existence. The base is 14" x 14". We just had three new springs installed, and the motor serviced as well. The turntable is 10”. A metal dealer tag at the rear is from the So. Cal. Music Company, Los Angeles, CA. Talkophones were equipped with a variety of horns, and we have fitted this with a great Victor brass bell horn, as the elbow was designed to accommodate.
