"TAOS PUEBLO" serigraph by Native American artist Jonathan WarmDay (Taos Pueblo

Description: TAOS PUEBLO is a limited edition serigraph (silk screen print) by Native American artist Jonathan Warm Day (1952 - ), who is a registered tribal member of Taos Pueblo (Tewa) and is being offered by the publisher from the original inventory. The print was made in Denver, Colorado in 1994 by Martin-John Graphics, who printed for many well known artists such as Robert Daughters of the Taos Six. Each was hand registered and hand pulled. It is a limited edition of 190 signed and numbered prints and 20 Artist Proofs and 2 Printers Proofs. It was printed on imported hand made paper using the highest quality inks available. Overall size is 36" high x 28" wide and the image size is 32" x 24". The silk screens were made using the original acrylic painting as reference and the resulting colors are true to the original painting. Each hand signed and numbered by the artist. Jonathan WarmDay is the son of another well known artist, Eva Mirabal (Ea-Ha-Wa in Tewa.) She was a student at the Indian School in Santa Fe under Helen Hardin. She is well known as a muralist as well as being the author of the cartoon series "G.I. Gertie" during World War II. Jonathan's artistic style is attributed by him as being in honor of his mother's work. His paintings show the way life was in times past like maybe a hundred or more years ago. These paintings are prized as historical records of the history of the people living at Taos Pueblo, which is a National Heritage Site. The image of "TAOS PUEBLO" was used in the artist's illustrated book "TAOS PUEBLO - Painted Stories". The Taos Pueblo has been continuously occupied for over a thousand years. The image shows the two Taos Pueblo women filling clay pots with water to be carried back to their dwelling places in the Pueblo as there never has been running water in Pueblo structure.
