Description: This is a rare April 19th, 1925 program (playbill) with a ticket envelope and loose ticket stub from the Pre-Broadway engagement of the VINCENT YOUMANS, FRANK MANDEL, OTTO HARBACH and IRVING CAESAR musical comedy hit "NO, NO, NANETTE" at Erlanger's Mason Theatre in Los Angeles, California. (Following an ambitious tour, the production would open September 16th, 1925 at the Globe Theatre in New York City and run for 321 performances.) ..... "NO, NO, NANETTE" not only introduced the song "Tea For Two", one of the most popular show tunes of the twentieth century, but was responsible in large part for Baseball's legendary "Curse of the Bambino". Producer Harry Frazee (1881-1929) was a successful entertainment entrepreneur who in 1917 purchased the Boston Red Sox baseball team. He sold his star pitcher, slugger BABE RUTH to the New York Yankees in 1920 for the then unheard of price of $125,000 to finance his new Broadway musical, "No, No, Nanette". This initiated the so-called "Curse of the Bambino", the third longest drought in World Series titles (1918 - 2004) which finally came to an end with Boston's 2004 championship ..... The musical starred NANCY WELFORD in the title role and TAYLOR HOLMES as "Jimmy Smith" and featured ANGIE NORTON, JEAN NASH, TYLER BROOKE, MARIE WELLS, DEREK GLYNNE, DOROTHY WHITMORE, MIA MARVIN, PAULINE FRENCH, GAYA SIBBALD, IRENE O'DONNELL, FAWN ADLER, DONNA DARLENE, PHYLLIS BYRNE, ALYNE THOMPSON, RUTH MURPHY, LOUISE LYNCH, GERTRUDE HENECKE, BERNICE HOUGH, BEE PUTNAM, JOSEPHINE MORRISON, RENEE ENGLISH, CARMEN DE RUE, BEE THRIFT, CARMEN DIRIGO, DARRY WELFORD, PETER GARDNER, GILBERT HERWOOD, ROY BRADLEY, JOHN DOE, SERGEI ARABELOFF, AL WILSON, CHARLES TESKE and ED JONES ..... FLAGG; Choreographed by GEORGE CUNNINGHAM; Staged by LILLIAN ALBERTSON; Produced by LOUIS O. MACLOON and EDWARD D. SMITH in association with H. H. FRAZEE .....
