Description: This is a nice TEAC 550 Reel to Reel. It has been sitting for a while, but still plays and functions, as seen in the video linked below. I took a bunch of photos. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Things I have noticed:Tape counter not functioning. Plastic feet are missing (common on this machine- they break easily). I few vendors on eBay sell originals and reproductions for a few dollars. Some scratching to the wood cabinet (see pics)Some damage to the face on each side just above the power button on the left, and the play button on the right (see pics). Here is the video I made of it playing: https://youtu.be/QzvnnmuGbr0?si=bRiu-r9eflAHLmtl As with all vintage electronics, this should be looked at by a professional service person. There are no returns on vintage electronics. I will pack carefully for shipping. Local pickup is always welcome. This information about the TEAC 5500 came from ReeltoReel.com: This was a pretty sophisticated machine by 1973 standards and was produced at a time when TEAC was just beginning to release their professional range of tape decks under the TASCAM banner. The A 5500 offered Dolby noise reduction, three motors (a direct drive capstan and two DC reel motors) and auto-reverse with all transport functions being servo-controlled. Four heads were utilized: erase, record, playback and reverse playback.
