Description: TWIN INNS 1887 Artist signed Ted Wade (1913 - 2015) Stone Lithograph Subject: In 1887 Gerhard Schutte built a home at 2978 Carlsbad Blvd. in Carlsbad, California. His family lived in the inn until 1906. Then in 1914 Ed & Neva Kentner purchased the Inn for their family home and restaurant. The Twin Inns became famous for the family style chicken dinners, corn fritter and famous plaster chickens out front. Limited edition stone lithograph number 11 of 46. Condition: Print and frame are in good vintage condition. Dimensions of frame: 17.25" High X 22.5" Wide. About The Artist: Born in Wallbach, Germany Oct. 13, 1913. Wade (né Theobold Wadewitz) was painting and drawing at age eight. He immigrated to San Francisco in 1924. After graduating from Mission High School, he studied at UC Berkeley and for five years at the California School of Fine Arts. He became a citizen of the U.S. in 1939 and legally changed his name. He taught medical illustration for the Air Force during WWII. After the war he taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts, Long Beach State College, UC Fullerton, and in Woodland, CA for several years. His career in the fields of commercial art, fine art and art education spanned a lifetime. California historical landmarks such as old ships, railroads, school houses and ranches have been saved for posterity by Ted Wade in one of the oldest art forms know today, stone lithography.
