Frederick Charles Dixey (British, Active/Exhibited 1881 – 1914) was a prolific painter of landscapes working in oils and watercolours. His scenes were finely detailed, as with this example with a steam-powered barge operated by the tiller, a figure in a punt and the lock gates in the distance. The painting is inscribed by another hand to the mount, verso, Temple Lock Great Marlow. Several examples of work by Frederick Charles Dixey can be seen on artprice.com, findartinfo.com, arcadia.com, askart.com, artnet.com and several British provincial auction sites. Presented in very good condition in a later frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed.
