Eija-Liisa Ahtila's films have won numerous film-festival awards and visual art prizes. As part of a retrospective of her installation works in some of the most prominent contemporary art galleries worldwide, the Eiha-Liisa Ahtila: real characters invented worlds exhibition at London's Tate Modern in 2003 exposed Ahtila to a wider British audience.
