Description: The Descent of Man by Charles Darwin Publisher & Year:John Murray, London (1871) - First edition, first issue (both volumes), as identified by: (a) Volume 1 has "transmitted" as the first word on page 297 and (b) Volume 2 has the errata notes on the verso of the title page. Darwins first use of the word "evolution" on page 2 of Volume 1. noticeable wear around the top edges of the spine of both copies, hinge cracking halfway down the back of volume 1. the binding is in very good shape with all pages securely held. the pages are in surprisingly good shape and i was unable to find any tares, creases, folds or writing within.
