CONDITION: In VG to VG+ condition, with a strong spine showing no cracking or splitting, strong hinges showing no separation or starting; no loose or missing pages, and no annotations or mold. Outer covers show noticeable rubbing and edge-wear: bumping to the corners and edges, particularly to the upper left corner of rear board (see Images 9, 11 & 12), and bottom left of the front board (see Image 1); wear to the cloth at the foot and crown of spine, but no loss or tearing (see Image 10); rightward lean to the front board (see Image 11); original owner's signature on the front end-paper with ink-smear (see Image 2); spot staining to p. i-vi (see Images 3-6); dark stain to the bottom corners of p. 24-272, which seems to center on p.264/265 (see Image 7); light age-tanning to inner pages, but no chipping or brittleness. All in all a very sound copy of an increasingly scarce and historically important work.
