Description: Here I have for sale a stated First American Edition of The Memoirs of Hector Berlioz, the complete work translated, edited and introduced by David Cairns. Published by Knopf in 1969. Considered by many to be the finest memoir by a composer ever. It does read well, I must say. Heavily illustrated with photographs and music notation. The book is VG with clean tan boards and gold gilt. Moderate edge wear, a small tear at top of spine, tight binding and clean unmarked pages except for a prior seller's penciled price on from endpaper. Mild foxing to pages and endpapers. The dust jacket is Good to VG- with still bright colors, but heavy chipping to top of spine and back panel. Several closed tears. This is a heavy book. The DJ is not price-clipped and is protected in mylar. Thanks and see my other listings: Modern Firsts, Modern Library, Everyman's Library and Oxford World's Classics.
