Description: 624 pages, covers missing, some beginning pages of the table of contents missing as well as several pages at the ending. But according to a note by Mrs. Lizzie La Rue, 1861 " This book has been off on a bust and got badly injured". Mrs. La Rue was the wife of a country doctor in Warren County, KY in the middle of the 19th century. I'm assuming much of the damage occurred during this era. Mrs. Hemans was an English poet and two of her opening lines, "The boy stood on the burning deck" and "The stately homes of England", have acquired classic status.
