Description: This is an acceptable copy of the moderately infamous Realist magazine from 1963. Paul Krassner(1932-2019) was the editor, publisher and creator to this early underground publication. He was a co-founder of the yippies, but an early counterculture figure, coming out of the beatniks literary movement. He managed to keep the magazine running from 1958 until 2001. The early years were more of a political, slightly subversive publication, after Krassner really got into LSD it became more eclectic. This issue, from December 1968 features an essay by one of the defendants in a trial of organizers of an anti-draft protest in Oakland, Califonia. My personal recollection of Krassner is from two television appearances, one with Joe Pyne, an early Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones precursor. Pyne was abusive and bombastic. Pyne always mentioned his loss of a leg in combat during WWII. Krassner asked if Pyne took off his leg or left it on when he slept with his wife. The other appearance was with William F Buckley, a prominent conservative. Krassner's appearance was one of the few times that the erudite Buckley was reduced to sputtering rage. THE PAPER USED IN THIS MAGAZINE IS NEWSPRINT. IT SHOULD BE STORED AWAY FROM LIGHT AND HEAT. I STRONGLY SUGGEST SCANNING THIS MAGAZINE IF REPEATED READING IS IN YOUR PLANS. MY COLLEGE NEWSPAPER WAS PRINTED ON BETTER PAPER. I ACCEPT RETURNS AND WILL REFUND AFTER RETURN OF ANY ITEM.
