Description: This is a custom 1/6 scale, 12" figure commemorating one of the German heroes of WWI, Baron Manfred Von Richthofen ace pilot leader of a couple of German squadrons, the last one, known as the "Flying Circus" (due to their brightly colored planes and the "circus like way" the unit kept on the move pitching tents and setting up temporary airfields, throughout the war). To be an ace, a pilot had to have five confirmed enemy planes shot down in combat. The Red Baron, so called because of his red Albatross D.III and later the red tri-wing Fokker DR.I he was most associated with, was the ace-of-aces in WWI due to his 80 confirmed air combat victories. Von Richthofen was born in Kleinburg (which is now part of the city of Wroclaw Poland) on May 2, 1892 and died April 21st, 1918, a casualty of war. Manfred was the son of an aristocratic Prussian family. He enjoyed gymnastics, riding horses, and hunting. He would start out his military career in the cavalry before transferring to the German Air Corps. The Red Baron was a very interesting historical figure. please note while this figure does not look exactly like Baron Von Richthofen there is a nice resemblance. This figure is designed mainly for display purposes for the WWI history buff. please note that this figure is fairly poseable and displays well. This would make a nice addition to any collection. sold as is. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!
