Description: The Relief of Chitral by Captain G.J. Younghusband and Captain Frank E. Younghusband published by Macmillan & Co. in 1896. First edition, later printing. A late Victorian leather bound book on a military expedition in India by the British to retake the fort of Chitral, written a year later by two eyewitnesses to the expedition, making the book a notable historical artifact of British rule over India. The binding is red calf, with floral decorations in gold and the emblem of Haileybury College, a boarding school, embossed in the center. Condition: The book is in good condition. Edge wear and peeling on both boards, some tanning around edges. Spine decoration partially worn down, but lettering still intact. Pages are excellent, minimal foxing or yellowing .
