Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, Earlier Printing of The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. Copies of this particular edition, illustrated by the celebrated artist Ernest H. Shepard, are scarce and becoming increasingly hard to find!! Hardcover with its original, price-clipped dust jacket. Published by Scribners: New York, 1954. While we assume it should go without saying, we still feel compelled to state that this copy is obviously NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title. This beloved 20th Century classic was originally published in 1908. TRUE Firsts typically sell for somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000, depending of course on condition, dust jacket state etc. This rare treasure has some clearly visible wear but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no foxing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges and creases/marks/wear to some of the pages, NOT affecting the text. The wear is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original dust jacket is price-clipped, otherwise is fully intact. Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, rips and marks. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! Please also note that the number "25" has been written on the spine, near the top edge! The number appears to have been written with a marker or sharpie and was closely photographed for your consideration. All of the wear previously mentioned, particularly near/along the edges, is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book.
