Description: This book is entitled The Winning of Barbara Worth by Harold Bell Wright, A. L. Burt Company, NY, Publishers. Copyright 1911. It is about about an engineer who competes with a local cowboy for the affections of a rancher's daughter while building an irrigation system for a Southwestern desert community. A movie was made of this book in 1926 with Gary Cooper in it. This is an old book from a friend's great-grandmother in the Lima, Ohio area and I know she purchased it between the 1911-1926 time as I have other old books with the relatives' names in them and those early dates. Cover: Olive green cloth cover that has a woman's photo in color circled in the center. Bottom right corner has a big wrinkle in it that has caused a tear if you open the book to the first page and see the tear and bend. (Photo is here.) Side seam has wear to the top and bottom seam. Back cover has 2 obvious stains near the middle area. The book pages are just hanging in there with only 2" of the inside seam still there holding the pages within the cover. But I'm sure you can glue it all up. First inside page has the owner's name penned in plus some pencil scribbling that looks like a snail. (Photo is here.) There are about 4 b/w drawings in the book. Back pages of the book have a ton of brown stains on them and the actual last blank page is torn out. On page 225 through 250 or so there is some pin-type punctures at the bottom of the pages and goes until page 247 but starts lessening after the first 2 pages where it started. (Photo here.) A few pages have a small brown stain or two on them. So it has a lot of defects to it! Size: 7.25" Height, 1" thick, 5.25" width. I will ship within 1-2 days of your payment.
