Description: Dear Reader, Listed is a copy of a very well recognised book in children’s literature, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. A truly iconic book that still holds its ground even after over a hundred years..!! The book is a First Edition, Second State, C Binding. Overall it’s in very good condition for its age and considering the issues this publication had at printing. The book cover itself has its cloth free from any major fraying as is commonly seen. The printing is quite visible with obvious light handling from hands, but not in a state of concern with any heavy damage. The spine itself is also in very good condition and well held together. There is an original Mylar protector cover on top and have not taken it of as I don’t want to cause the book any unnecessary distress. Turning to the inside of the book, there is page separation on both front and back from the paste covers, but the book cover binding is tight and not a serious concern. There hasn’t been any repair tape applied, though a buyer may feel it best to have a conservator look at it. The text block appears in nice condition and tight as well, with all pages present, and more importantly all 24 colour plates. The plates are in good condition with some being better than others, with some showing edging wear which is a common issue with these books. One page appears to have had a trim of a few millimetres from the page end at some point from someone to tidy up the wear, but not affecting the colour plate. There are couple of colour plates with slight tears which start from the end white border of the pages and slightly extended onto the plates themselves but again not a serious issue. Overall the inside of the book is in very good condition. Have included the two pages of mention in the photos. Last point of mention is an owners bookplate which appears on the front paste down with previous owners names dated 1901. Also included is a beautiful book solander with a protective cover that encloses the book that slips into the solander. All points of the book indicate to it being a First Edition Second State.
