Description: (Cucurbita pepo) Cream colored acorn squash with finely textured, exceptionally sweet flesh. With flavor reminiscent of a sweet potato, Thelma Sanders' squash has been appropriately nicknamed "Missouri Sweet Potato" by many growers. Our favorite way to prepare Thelma squash is to halve them, scoop out the seeds and then slice in 3/4" pieces which we coat with olive oil, parmesan, and fresh thyme and then bake until the flesh starts to turn crispy and light brown. Whether you eat the skins or not is a matter of personal preference-- they're thin enough that I don't mind them, but others like to remove them (which is easy after they're cooked). Plants are very, very productive and yield well under a variety of conditions. 85-90 days to harvest. 25 seeds/pkt. CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds in hills with 4-5 seeds per hill and hills spaced 6ft in all directions. Germination will occur in 7-14 days. Once seeds have germinated thin to 3 seedlings per hill.
