Throw Back Handcrafted 2mm Pencil in Pewter with A Raw Copper Body / #190

Description: **** RAW COPPER PENCIL BODY **** This is a handmade 2mm Mechanical Pencil made by Placid Crafts. This series has all the features you look for in a heavy lead pencil. It features a top click lead advance, replaceable eraser, built in lead sharpener, sturdy pocket clip, and a hex grip. The hardware on this pencil is Chrome, and the body is raw copper with no Lacquer, or coating at all and will patina with age to take on the antique look that is so popular right now. The copper rod is cut to length, drilled out and a brass tube glued in. From there it is turned in a metal lathe to shape and size then sanded and shined. The pencil is 6" long with the lead out, ready to write. I would consider this a standard to larger diameter pencil because the pen body is .460. This is a heavier than normal pencil because of the copper body. The Pewter hardware looks great against the copper for an aged look. This pencil also comes with two tubes of 2mm X 3-1/2" leads with five leads in each tube. We are also adding a five pack of white refill erasers. Additional refill packs are available in our eBay store. Make no mistake, this pencil is very unique. It has no lacquer, sealer, or acrylic covering. This pencil will Patina as raw unprotected copper will. New as it is, it is shiny and a light almost pastel pink color, but it quickly starts turning dark, as shown in the photos. This pencil is made of soft metals and will scuff up, scratch and age as raw coppers will. This is not sold as a patina pen. The finish is raw copper, and Patina is a process that WILL happen to this pen. We have buyers that are disappointed if the pen comes like new (less patina) because they like the patina, other buyers are disappointed if the pen comes with more patina than pictured. These are made on a metal lathe form solid metal round stock blanks; these are made from Rebar, Aluminum, Brass, and Copper. These are drilled out to 3/8” and a brass tube glued in to mount the hardware to. The Rebar is lightly cleaned on a wire wheel and sprayed with a clear coat to protect the steel from rusting. The other metal pens are turned to the proper size and the sanded for a smooth surface. These pen bodies are not sealed or coated. They will patina as each type of metal will.
