Valenza attended high school in New York and did not continue on to college. Known for his spontaneous poetry of the crazy wisdom school, Valenza was a poet, author, playwright, singer, and Tibetan Buddhist. While living in Katmandu during the 1970s, Valenza published The Clearing Stage and Lost Contact on the Bardo Matrix imprint of Ira Cohen. Other publications include many chapbooks done with his own imprint and, done in collaboration with margareta waterman, several chapbooks and a full-length work of poetry, drawings, and photographs from his time in Katmandu ( Under the Precious Umbrella, nine muses books, 2001). He died in Florida in 2010.
