Description: An incredible estate find for the discerning glass collector! This piece rarely has surfaced since post-WWII times, as one article earlier this decade noted. Produced from 1924-1931, this pitcher featuring the Fontaine pattern - two birds by a flowing fountain - was made in Factory R by Tiffin (which became a part of US Glass Company). Originally described I believe as an iced tea pitcher, it is in the color Twilite, which appears as blue purple. This color was originally called "Evening Blue" according to my research. It is approximately 11 5/8" tall to the top of the lid finial, 9 1/4" tall without its lid, 7" across from the edge of its handle to the tip of its spout. In terms of any damage I see, there are two very tiny chips on the bottom rim of the lid. There is some rubbing/roughness in a spot on the base rim. At the base of where the handle is applied at the top, there is a spot of roughness or small chipping. I invite you to look carefully at all pictures I have provided, and do not hesitate to ask for more of any aspect if you wish. It is interesting to note that in later times, in the 1950's, Tiffin reintroduced the color, but renamed it "Twilight" to distinguish it from the earlier "Twilite" color, and that newer generation of products were made of neodymium glass which changes color in different lighting. Those items from the 1950s are also very popular with collectors. It is important to note the difference in the two; the earlier Twilite does not have a dichroic nature as the later Twilight does.
