Description: TIM BISKUP (b. 1967, CA) 'Portrait Series: Broken and Slayer', 2007 SOLD-OUT Deluxe Signed Limited Edition Artist Portfolio TWO SIGNED and numbered hand-pressed prints made from the artist's original drawings exclusively for this edition. Printed in black ink on hand-made paper by Twinrocker of Indiana. The two prints are 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" each and are presented in a brass hinged, litho printed, embossed and foil stamped hand-made grey folder with a pair of companion story prints featuring Tim's inimitable hand-lettered type. Each print and portfolio is hand-signed and numbered '31/100' by Tim Biskup. BRAND NEW / Excellent condition with no visible defects. Tim Biskup has successfully created a unique and widely recognizable style out of the marriage of comic book illustration, graphic design, and abstractionism. His graphical, multilayered works are precise and colorful while expressing movement and intensity. Biskup's dense, character driven style is inspired by mid-century modern design infused with a healthy dose of punk rock energy. He classifies his style as 'Baroque Modernism' due to its infusion of modernism and ornate, detailed patterns. A main influence of Tim's is Mary Blair, a designer who worked for Walt Disney for 37 years and is best known for her work on the Disney animated films Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Since entering the Lowbrow scene in the late 90's, Tim's artwork has evolved at a break-neck pace. He has extended his aesthetic influence into print, media, clothing and many other arenas while creating works for galleries and maintaining focus as a painter. He's collaborated with artists Mark Ryden and Gary Baseman and organized art auctions and exhibitions. His highly sought after original paintings and sculptures have been shown worldwide, including galleries in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Kyoto and Melbourne. Initially shunned by the galleries, Biskup set up the Burning Brush Art Auctions (1999-2002) to sell work directly to the public. With participants such as Mark Ryden, Gary Baseman and Glenn Barr, these sales acted as a launch pad for Biskup's fine arts career, and that of other artists. Since then, his work been shown in galleries and museums worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, São Paulo, Barcelona, Berlin and Melbourne. In 2017, Biskup founded Face Guts, a gallery space and artists’ residence in Glassell Park, CA, while Tree of Life (Chronicle Chroma), the first monograph on this artist, was published in 2019.
