Description: From one of the largest private Titanic Collections in the world; the Nationally exhibited TitanicItems Collection This is small piece of authentic Titanic Wreck Wood on a business card sized (3.5” x 2”) dramatic display entitled “Titanic Breaking in Half,” fantasy art from French artist Eliott Sontot. Like many trading-type cards, on back is the Certificate of Authenticity hand signed by Kevin Saucier, a respected 20yr collector and researcher that is well-known in the hobby. About the Wood: After the disaster in April 1912, the Cable Ship Minia was contracted by White Star Line to recover bodies. On board was ships carpenter, William Parker, who took Titanic wreckage from the sea and made them into everyday useful items for family and friends. He made a liquor cabinet for his Chief entirely out of Titanic floating wreck wood (flotsam). It stayed with the family until 1998 when it was sold to a Canadian Museum.Inside the cabinet there was a red-stained yellow pine plank shelf, identified as part of Titanic's wreck wood deck. It was removed and offered for individual sale last century. Small pieces of this plank are sliced off to make it affordable so that most collectors and enthusiasts can have a piece of their very own; this had never been done before. This card is just such an example. The plank has been on public exhibit at the Ronald Reagan National Library in Simi Valley, CA and at the National Geographic Titanic Museum Exhibit in Washington DC. More Stuff: The wreck wood used in the photograph will not be the exact one shipped, actual piece may slightly vary in size, shape and possibly in color-shade. To support the arts, the picture on front was sought after and licensed from the talented French artist Eliott Sontot, please check out his Titanic and other works of art. Handling time is typically one day. If not satisfied you may return it (in its original state) at your expense pursuant to eBay rules.
