The book is beautifully illustrated. The book opens with a Preface to the Sixth Edition. I could not find a publication date but this is an old book from the Nineteenth Century. I acquired this book from an estate. It has sat on a bookshelf in a library for decades, untouched until now. CONDITION: This old book is complete and intact, in very good condition for its age. The covers are embossed and decorated. The covers are in very good condition with light age-expected edge and corner wear. The inside covers and endpapers are illustrated with a nice pattern. The inside covers are in very good condition, with no cracking or separation present at the hinges. There are no bookplates, writing, or markings present on the inside covers or end papers. The pages are in very good condition, with light foxing on a few pages. The pages are crisp. All pages are tight to the binding. The spine is decorated and in good condition with some shelf wear at both edges, the lettering is easily read. This is a nice antique book that will be a nice addition to your collection.
