Tom came up as a starter with the Kansas City Royals and played his first 8 years with them, became a fan favorite. The Florida native also played for the Red Sox, Cubs, Astros, White Sox, Yankees and D-Backs. Overall he went 138-126 with a 3.96 ERA, recorded a solid 1,928 strikeouts and recorded 158 saves in a career that saw him convert from a full time starter to a premier reliever.
