Description: Tomatillo Physalis Philadelphica 25 SeedsChill Hill Farms It's the first year we have grown Tomatillos on the farm and we are hooked! The plants are gorgeous! They grow about knee to waist high and umbrella out in every direction. The structure is very similar to a Pineapple Ground Cherry plant, but on a much larger scale. Little yellow flowers attract so many bees and wasps to the garden! Next year we will plant Tomatillos in all of our gardens just to bring in more pollinators. Once the flowers have been pollinated, little green lantern shaped fruits will start to form. The lantern grows larger than the fruit at first, but then the fruit catches up to the 'wrapper' and breaks through. Once the lantern breaks or starts turning yellow, the fruit is ready to harvest! One of our favorite salsa's is Salsa Verde and we really enjoyed making homemade salsa this year! It is a little work, but tastes amazing! Tomatillos can also be roasted as a side-dish or made into a wonderful soup!
