He graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering. He defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences with a degree in processes and apparatuses of chemical technology. He has the academic title of professor. Currently, he is the head of the Laboratory for Heat and Mass Transfer and Hydrodynamics of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 2001, he was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.G. I. Kelbaliyev is a specialist in mathematical modeling and optimization of chemical technology processes.He is the author of more than 250 articles, inventions, and books.
