The front and tail end truck positions are different. After the truck adapters are glued in position, drill through the TA and the car floor with a #43 drill bit. Then tap the holes #4-40 tap about 50 to 60% Then the ‘N’ coupler pad is to be drilled with a #50 or 51drill bit and tapped #2-56 for the Kadee #451 coupler assembly. Once again, tap the hole about 50 to 60%. NOTE: When dealing with plastics, tap the hole about 50 to 60% so screw goes in straight, but binds at the bottom of the hole and does not come loose. Solder thin flexible wires to the WT tabs before installation. Then attach the WT Wire Tabs to facilitate the connection of wires to the Walthers trucks for lighting. Assembly hints: The Kadee #451 tends to be a pain in the anatomy to assemble. The coupler itself is fairly straightforward; however the centering bushing is another story. Only friction holds the bushing in place. After you have the coupler assembled, flip over the #451 assembly and insert the centering bushing in the correct orientation. While holding the bushing with your finger, flip it over again. Pick up the spring with a #11 blade on what will be the rear of the spring. Insert the spring into the void and compress the spring against the bushing (easier said than done). Then use your thumb nail to hold the spring down and into the #451 housing while you slide the blade out. When assembling the #451 onto your car use a fingernail to hold the bushing down while you install the #2-56 screw. The centering bushing has a tendency to rise as the screw is installed.I attempt to provide the most accurate description possible. My intention is to prevent any surprises.
