The Raiders have adapted particularly well to their harsh desert climate, which is most evident in their appearance - all Tusken Raiders cover their bodies with cloth wrappings to shield themselves from the rays of Tatooine's twin suns. The wrappings remain on almost all the time, only mates see each other's faces. Although they prefer using primitive technology, they have incorporated some high-tech equipment into their outfits. This equipment includes eye filters that help them see through violent wind storms, and a special breathing device that filters sand particles and provides moisture while they breathe. Tusken Raiders have been known to use blaster weapons, but would rather battle with their signature gaderffi sticks. They share a familiar bond with banthas, the woolly beasts that also inhabit the desert. Raiders use the banthas for transportation and ride them in single files to cleverly disguise their numbers from enemies.
