Two Large, Red Lava Rocks, Perfect for Aquariums & Terrariums

This listing is for two red / reddish-brown rocks, measuring roughly 6" and 8", respectively, on their longest sides and standing roughly 5" tall. They each offer lots of cracks, crevices, holes, and depressions. You'll also see pockmarks in a variety of shapes and sizes. Together, they would make an impressive lava wall. Also known as "scoria" or "cinder", they were hand-picked directly from the Springerville Volcanic Field, near the White Mountains of east-central Arizona. Those pockmarks are scoria's most recognizable feature. When they were expelled from volcanoes that were active here over a half million years ago, hot gases were captured within the molten lava and trapped as it cooled, leaving thousands of tiny "pores" within the rock itself. The red color is the result of its iron content oxidizing during eruption. They would be ideal for the following uses: • In aquariums. Set them out a bit from a corner to create a safe space for smaller fish, or combine them with other rocks to create an underground scene. Scoria lava rocks are extremely lightweight and reduce the risk of damaging your tanks. They offer additional benefits ensuring the health of your aquarium, too. IMPORTANT: These rocks are shipped in a natural state and need to be prepared before introducing them into your aquarium. • Lava rocks can create a beautiful setting in your terrarium or bonsai tree arrangements.
