Description: Postcad - U. S. Postal History - a 2c Postal Card postmarked at Detrick, Virginia, June 30, 1955, which is a discontinued post office. On the back of the postcard are listed a number of towns around the country that were closing, and to be postmarked on the last day of operation. Detrick, Virginia being one of them. Evidently, the person that prepared the postal card used the same information on the back side to print on multiple postal cards and then put a check mark next to the appropriate location for the postal card at hand. Rubber stamped address on back side, and a different address on the front side. Fine / very fine condition, some scattered small ink marks by the postmark, probably as a result of the postmark, a little wear at the corner tips. I note Detrick is not far from the following Virginia towns: Woodstock, Strasburg, Front Royal and Luray. SHIPPING $1.50 by First Class Mail to addresses in the United States.
