Description: An incredible Montana historic piece!Original antique, Circa 1904 to 1915 Uranium UG Custard Glass 7" EAPG Pitcher.....Souvenir of Stevensville, Montana MT - ST. MARY'S MISSION CHURCH.Manufactured by the Jefferson Glass Company, Steubenville Ohio & Williamstown, West Virginia. This particular custard glass piece is shown in Jefferson's Diamond with Peg Pattern & is nicely decorated with lovely hand painted red roses, green leaf accenting & has an incredible image of the St. Mary's Mission Church, founded in 1852. It also has some highlights of metallic gold along top & on lower "pegs". It additionally has a nice starburst bottom.Pitcher measures a tall 7+ inches high to tip of pouring spout & is approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter across top, NOT counting handle.OUTSTANDING CONDITION after 115+ years....floral decor retains vivid paint, & church image is PERFECT, with NO wear. It does show a teensy bit of wear to gold on pegs----not unusual after all these years----but the gold along top rim is in EXCELLENT CONDITION.An ideal item for those who collect UG custard glass souvenirs, or for those interested in historical pieces from the "Big Sky Country" state of Montana. It's a WONDERFUL PIECE! Custard Glass: as the name implies, is more yellowish than milky & is opaque. Uranium was added as a colourant to make it pale yellow. And, YES, it GLOWS under UV light. Stevensville, is a town in Ravalli County, Montana, United States. The population was 2,002 at the 2020 census. Stevensville is officially recognized as the first permanent settlement of non-indigenous peoples in the state of Montana. Forty-eight years before Montana became the nation's 41st state, Stevensville was settled by Jesuit Missionaries at the request of the Bitterroot Salish tribe.
