Description: UKRAINE - 2024 MNH MINUTE OF SILENCE SHEET - U87 Click image to enlarge Description The sheet has perforation separations extending half way up the sheet between the margin and the first colum of stamps. All the sheets of this variety were received this way directly from Ukrposhta and it would appear that their operator was using too much pressure on the perforation die. I was wondering how I could help the Ukrainian war effort. Sending money to charities was a possibility, but I wanted to participate in the actual war effort. Then it dawned on me that I could sell Ukrainian Postage stamps on EBAY, purchased directly from the Ukrainian Postal Service. The funds received would go directly to the Government of Ukraine for use as they deemed most appropriate. I will maintain a separate spreadsheet for all the Ukrainian stamps I sell and assure you that all profit will go into purchasing additional stamps from the Ukrainian Postal Service. So far, we have provided the Government of Ukraine with $10,074.55 for their effort. I have recently added refrigerator magnets and coffee cups to my store. The assistance of my past and future customers in helping me with this effort is greatly appreciated. Please tell your relatives, friends, and coworkers of my listings. Again, all profit on the Ukrainian stamps I sell will go straight to the Ukrainian Postal Service for use by the Government of Ukraine as they see fit. The sheet is described as follows on the Ukrposhtra web site: A nationwide minute of silence in memory of Ukrainians, who died because of russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine on 16 March 2022. "Every morning at 9 a.m., throughout our country, we will commemorate Ukrainians who sacrificed their lives. All those who fought. All military and all civilians. Adults and children... All of them!.. Eternal memory to everyone who died for Ukraine!" said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The postal issue "Minute of Silence," which Ukrposhta presents on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine, reproduces the works of Donetsk artist Sergiy Maidukov "Marsove Pole (Field of Mars). Lviv" (2023) and "Memorial on Maidan Nezalezhnosti. Kyiv" (2024). Since the beginning of the large-scale war, blue and yellow flags have been flying in the cemeteries of all Ukrainian cities and villages, on the graves of fallen heroes, reminding us, who are still alive, about the price of every moment lived in the unconquered country at war. The emotional issue is complemented by a poem "And horror, and blood, and death, and despair" written by the prominent Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko back in 2014. The poem is translated by Jaroslava Francesca Barbieri (June 30, 2024). Each stamp in the sheet contains 5 UAH of charity. Ukrposhta will use the funds raised in this way to support the humanitarian project On the Shield to return fallen soldiers. Images sell!
