Description: I have for sale a memorial medal for President Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President of the United States. The medal is made of white metal, it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and in a high grade circulated condition with a few problem areas. The medalists was George T. Morgan. The obverse shows the civilian bust of grant in the center. Around the bust it reads IN MEMORIAM - U.S. GRANT 1822-1885 (the 1885 date is worn down, but can be seen) At the rim it reads SOLDIER-PRESIDENT-CITIZEN - THOUGH TO EARTH NO MORE - IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER. The reverse shows Grant mounted on a horse in a military scene. At the rim it reads FORT DONELSON 1862 - VICKSBURG 1863 - RICHMON 1865 - PRESIDENT 1869 - 1877.
