Description: This is an un-heated, untreated, 0.86ct pink sapphire from Sri Lanka. I bought this sapphire as a rough stone from a small dealer in Gampaha, who told me he bought it from a farmer in the mountains of Ratnapura. I took the sapphire to Colombo and had it cut into this modified trillion shape by a very talented gem cutter. My gem cutter is all about ideal dimensions and angles, not finished weight. He cuts to American and European ideal standards. Quality of his cut is the main goal. The original stone weight was 2.4cts so there was a lot of wasted stone to get this shape. It was well worth it I think. There is a feather inclusion in the middle of the gem you can see with a loupe. Also, when it’s put under long wave UV light it glows bright red. Super cool!!
