Description: This is a leather underbust corset with steel boning and cotton interlining that was made by Starkers corsetry company. It was made to order and currently I have a 28" waist with about a 5" gap in the back at the waist with a shirt on- the reduction I use is about 1.5" so it takes my waist down to about 26.5 in the pics. I also have about a 38" in hip at the bottom of the corset, which is a bit higher than the natural hip line for those of you who sew. However, I would not buy this corset if you have a natural waist any larger than 28. If you are smaller, there is some room to play. The corset was made to have some gap in the back but also has a leather cover to lay underneath the laces. This with no spacing can have a waist as small as 21" -- that is as small as it goes. Also, there is a strangle closure mechanism on the front of the corset - it is not your normal busk closure. Those 5 hooks in the pictures are functional. For whomever buys this, when you try this piece on for the first time, there is a weird trick to getting in on easier - you need to fully close the front hooks prior to lacing. As far as corsets go, this one is quite comfortable. If feels much like a wonderful glove and provides some support for your back as well. There are D rings that go down the sides for extra places to tie things; this corset works beautifully in a renfair costume as you have places to hook all kinds of bobbles and ribbons and things.
