Description: Union Marine And General Insurance Union Marine & General Insurance Co, Ltd. incorporated in January 1863, commencing business in Liverpool in February 1863. It was based on a merger between Charles Langton Co. and Rawson, Aikin Co. In 1893, they took over International Marine Insurance Co, Ltd. They merged with the Phoenix Co, a general insurance firm, in 1911. Changed their name to Union Marine & General Ins. Co, Ltd. In 1931. This is a vintage Union Marine & General sign which is listed in the “Signs of Insurance” book as number 393.2 on page 127. It is of sheet metal construction with a wood frame measuring approximately 18”X 12”. The sign has black lettering on a metal background. It is from the mid 1900's and is in good condition, with some scuffing (see above “Union”) and other expected wear from usage consistent with it's age. This is a nice item and would make an excellent addition for any collector of signs, insurance company memorabilia, or a great gift for an insurance agent/broker, or a company employee or retiree.
