Tenney was born in DeRidder, Louisiana December 6, 1933. He began church-related work at the age of sixteen. He attended Apostolic Bible Institute in 1951 to begin preparation for the ministry. (He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Theology from ABI in 1992.) In 1952, as a young preacher, he married Thetus Caughron. In 1953, Reverend Tenney assumed the pastorate of the United Pentecostal Church in Monroe, Louisiana. From 1953 to 1960 he served as the Louisiana District Youth President. In 1960, he was elected International Youth President for the United Pentecostal Church, and held that office until 1969. From 1969 to 1975, Reverend Tenney served as Executive Director of Foreign Missions for the United Pentecostal Church International. In 1976, he moved back to DeRidder, Louisiana, and became pastor of the First UPC of DeRidder, where he served until 1978. During the years of 1977 to 1979, he also served as the interim speaker of Harvestime, the international radio broadcast of the UPCI. In 1978, T. F. Tenney was elected District Superintendent of the Louisiana District United Pentecostal Church. He continues to serve in this capacity. He is a member of the General Board of the UPCI. He is a respected writer and regular contributor to The Louisiana Challenger, Pentecostal Herald, and several other religious periodicals. He is the author of four other books: Pentecost -- What's That?, The Flame Still Burns, The Main Thing, and Advice to Pastors and Other Saints. The Tenneys make their home in Tioga, Louisiana, while maintaining an active schedule, traveling nationally and internationally, ministering the message of God's love and power of deliverance to thousands of hungry hearts. They have two children: a son, Tom Gregory Tenney, and a daughter, Teri Spears, both of whom are in full-timeministry. They have five grandchildren.
