MACV-SOG was a joint military unit that included members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and was responsible for conducting covert operations behind enemy lines in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.One of the MACV-SOG units that operated in Vietnam was known as the Reconnaissance Team (RT) Bushmaster, which was composed of highly trained Green Berets and indigenous troops. The team was tasked with conducting deep reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines, often in hostile territory and with limited support.RT Bushmaster operated in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam, near the border with Laos. Their mission was to gather intelligence on enemy troop movements and installations, and to conduct sabotage and other disruptive operations against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Viet Cong forces.The team often worked closely with the indigenous Montagnard people, who provided valuable intelligence and support during their missions. They were equipped with specialized weapons and equipment, including silenced firearms, explosives, and radio direction finders.RT Bushmaster's operations were highly dangerous, and the team suffered a number of casualties during their time in Vietnam.
