Description: Made for amphibious invasions and supplied by the U.S. Navy, M1926 belts like these were issued to soldiers participating in operations such as the D-Day Normandy landings and US Marine Corps amphibious landings in the Pacific. This example was manufactured by U.S. Rubber Co. on October 7, 1943. The canvas is in quite good shape and the rubber hoses remain soft and pliable. The aluminum clamp is untarnished as well. The belt measures 55" long and 4.5" wide. The metal housing surrounding the CO2 containers is marked U.S.N. one side and DURKEE ATWOOD on the other. Operating instructions are stamped on the canvas, close to the CO2 slots and indicate: "To inflate squeeze arrows together with a hard quick grip and release". A fine example that would make an excellent addition to a D-Day or amphibious display. Shipped promptly.
