Description: The 58 Rescue Squadron (58 RQS) has a long lineage dating back to 1952. It was re-activated at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada in 2002 and continues to operate there at present day. The 58 RQS has provided combat search and rescue for multiple combatant commands two decades. Additionally, it provides rescue coverage for NASA's human space flight missions. The 58 Rescue Squadron is one of the busiest squadrons within the Air Combat Command (ACC) and was awarded the Air Force's Rescue Squadron of the Year for 2024. Note: Squadron heritage dates are etched on the outer rim of the coin starting in 1952 and ended in 2025. The 58 RQS is scheduled to inactivate in June 2025. This is the official squadron coin (2" diameter) and commemorative coin for the inactivation ceremony. Limited supply available.
