Description: On June 8, 1986 Maine became the thirtieth state to be served by USAir. Inaugural service consisted of three daily nonstop McDonnell-Douglas DC-9-30 round trips from Portland; one to Pittsburgh and two to Philadelphia. This cover was carried on the inaugural USAir flight from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Portland, Maine (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as AL-D84N. The Pittsburgh Philatelic Mail Clerk autographed the cover. On February 14, 2013, US Airways Group and AMR Corporation announced that the two companies would merge to form the largest airline in the world. The combined airline carries the American Airlines name. The Pittsburgh Postmaster autographed the cover.
