Description: Description YAMAHA SG-800S '82 Tobacco Sunburst The "SG" series is an original Yamaha model that appeared in the 1960s. It started with the SG-2/3 around 1966 and the "Blue Jeans Custom" SG-5/7 of the same year, and reached the double cutaway shape with the SG-30/35 around 1973. The traditional SG shape that continues to this day was completed with the SG-175 in the following year, 1974, and has been produced almost uninterruptedly as Yamaha's signature model since then. The "SG-800S" made in 1982 is in stock this time, and is a relatively clean one. [Body] Total weight about 4.2kg. The body material is maple top/mahogany back. It has a chic tobacco sunburst color, and although there is a cloudiness that is typical of Yamaha at this time, it has kept a relatively clean color. There are signs of use such as dents on the body top and head top, buckle scratches on the body back, dullness on the metal parts, cracks on the pickup ring, and sticker marks on the pickguard/back panel. [Neck] The neck is made of mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard and a set neck joint. This is a minor change model from the SG-800, but it uses dot inlays instead of arrow inlays. There are small dents on the back of the neck near the 3rd and 4th frets, and it is slightly catchy. The frets and nut are not worn out, but the playability is good. The nut width is about 43.2mm. It features a slim neck shape that is typical of the Yamaha SG. [Electrical system] The controls are the orthodox [2 volume/2 tone/3-way pickup selector switch], and the tone pot is equipped with a push/push type bi-sound system (coil tap), which is a familiar specification. The powerful and straight tone is the base, and the combination with the bi-sound makes it attractive for its depth that covers even sharp single coil sounds.
