Description: New model for self-bonding. Does not contain glue or paints. The USS Growler (SSG-577) was an American classic propulsion submarine carrying cruise missiles (SSG). The lead for this unit was laid in February 1955, launched in April 1958, and entered service in the US Navy in the summer of the same year. The ship was 96.7m long and 8.2m wide at launch, with an underwater displacement of about 3,500 tons. Maximum underwater speed did not exceed 12 knots. Armament consisted of 4 Regulus I missiles or 2 Regulus II missiles and 6 bow torpedo launchers. 553mm with 16 torpedoes stock. The USS Growler (SSG-577) was one of two Grayback submarines that in turn were upgraded Tang-type units. Grayback-class units were designed and built from the outset as carriers of Regulus cruise missiles capable of carrying atomic warheads. The USS Growler (SSG-577) was built at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. She was one of the first submarines in the U.S. Navy to use HY-80 steel to build the hull. During his first period of service, he played a fairly large role in the implementation of the US Navy's nuclear deterrence function. However, the fact that SSBNs entered service, as well as the limited performance of Regulus missiles, led to the USS Growler (SSG-577) as early as 1964 (6 years after entering service!) has been withdrawn from line. It can now be admired as a museum ship in New York.
