Description: VENINI Description: Venini Deco Vase - Opaline processing technique. Lattimo is an opaque white glass, invented in Murano around the middle of the 15th century with the aim of imitating the first porcelains that were all the rage in Europe. It is obtained by overlapping the lattimo glass with a glass or more thin transparent and colored glasses, obtaining splendid objects with intense and bright colors. To embellish soft-colored glass, gold and silver leaves are included on the entire surface to obtain splendid “Aurati” objects.Design “ Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892 – 1977) was one of the most important innovators in the glass art of Murano and artistic director of Venini from 1925 to 1931. There are many new glass techniques applied in his creations which include sculptures, lamps and collector's items, which unequivocally bear his distinctive mark. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice where he made his debut in 1908 at Ca' Pesaro with sculptures and embossed works. In 1910 he moved to Rome. In 1914 he was present with his works at the II International Exhibition of the Secession. He took part in numerous group exhibitions between 1917 and 1922. In the 1920s he devoted himself to glass experimenting with new techniques.
