Vermillion (hue) - Handmade Oil Paint - 40ml

Description: THESE IMITATION COLORS >"HUES"< ARE COMPLETELY NON-TOXIC! Vermillion was the dominant red color used in the renaissance as well as in ancient Asia for painting. Originally the natural mineral Cinnabar was used, but eventually this fiery red was synthesized into Vermillion, a more pure version of the color. Vermillion was eventually mostly replaced in the 19th century by the introduction of Cadmium Red, a less toxic and more affordable red and Vermillion slowly became more of a niche offering by paint makers and became increasingly more expensive, and of course was always toxic. My imitation is completely nontoxic. I do not even use Cadmium Red in my formulation! The end result is an opaque fiery warm red that is very slightly more subdued than many single pigment red colors, which is right in line with how genuine Vermillion appears as well. "All my colors are handmade with only the highest quality pigments and cold-pressed linseed or walnut oil. My professional oil colors are all formulated to be lightfast, non-toxic, durable, and affordable imitations of The World's Rarest Colors. I have studied the colors that I recreate extensively to achieve this goal. Each color looks and behaves similarly to its historical counterpart but without the downfalls of the originals. Made for artists by an artist!
