Description: This chronometer is a high quality extremely rare antique single fusee marine chronometer of 2 day duration in excellent condition, its certainly all original, made by the English clockmaker Thomas Mercer The chronometer is a rare mantel clock style clock with a bronze ormolu case which stands elegantly on display The case has a glass viewing pane to the top and sides of the case as well as protecting the dial The chronometer comes in its original travel black leather carry case with handle and has its original winding key held in the top as you can see in the picture The silvered dial is totally original with the power reserve dial to bottom which runs down with the movement and tells you how many hours left before winding. The dial also features a 1/2 second beating regulation subs seconds dial to top with original hands. The dial is signed to the top by the very well known chronometer clockmaker Thomas Mercer The movement is a high quality 2 day marine chronometer movement with fusee Barrel and compensated earnshaw helical spring detent escapement.
